Autumnal Smoothie

Lassi, it’s the universally loved Indian smoothie, the variety most popularly sampled tends to be one of three; mango, sweet or plain. So it’s time to shake things up a bit given that we’re seeing an abundance of blackberries and the season is transitioning from summer to autumn. This is a super simple recipe and best enjoyed in the company of those who’ve helped pick punnets of wild blackberries…their reward? This delicious lassi, finished with cinnamon and a sprig of mint,

Autumnal dark fruit lassi finished with cinnamon and mint.

Makes 2 portions

  • 300 g blackberries
  • 200 ml natural yogurt
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2tbs sugar, depending on the sweetness of the fruit
  • 80ml water
  • Ice cubes and a few mint leaves, to serve

Blend the blackberries, yoghurt, lemon juice, cinnamon and most of the sugar with 80ml water. Sweeten to taste. Pour through a sieve into glasses to remove the seeds.
Serve chilled over ice cubes, garnish with a few mint leaves.
