Piercing The Darkness
I've Seen The Light
The crisp cool glass of Torrontes began perspiring in the warmth of the balmy evening as we fooled around with 'millionaire ideas' . A game of invention with Dragon's Den style cross examination.
"An app that tells you when your fave band is in town?" ..."done...called Soundkick". She slumped into her disappointment.
"How about a hot plate which doesn't need plugging in, my mum would love that"....."the guys at Mastrad have got that covered, I've already got one." He nursed another gulp of Guinness.
"A self parking car..I mean I hate parallel parking." She was assured that her insurance company hated her parallel parking as well and in any case those tech boffins at Toyota had built the Prius to do that.
The evening continued as did our consumption, resulting in DD style missives, "That's ludicrous", "I'm out". You get the picture. We searched the stars for new and exciting inventions and drifted into novelty territory, we drew the line on the evening at the idea of whoopee cushion which actually emitted smell as well as sound.
"Maybe everything's already been discovered and invented."
Perhaps innovation lies in the ability to translate the everyday into something inspirational and dynamic. In search of special, a chance encounter at an interiors fayre boosted my faith that remarkable design and invention is still alive and well. Sprinkling its magic dust to produce items of beauty and striking personality. There they hung, great hoops of golden luminescence, lighting from Le Deun Luminaires . Architecturally bold, yet elegant statements re-interpreting the introduction of light into space.
Piercing the darkness would never be such fun.
