Flick Your Switch
Some stores or showrooms don’t have to work too hard to suck you in. Their windows don’t try too hard they tease you with just enough curiosity to tweak your interest and thereafter follows a flurry of emotions...Disappointment, Indifference or Desire.
Stumbling across the frontage of Felix Lighting in Bath. I was confronted with a forest of hanging stone pendant lights and captured by a dazzling vintage studio lamp and a blinking Walk Don’t Walk sign rescued from New York’s urban jungle. With nowhere to be and struck by nosiness I entered a lighting emporium, compelling me to remove my credit cards and buy everything, instantly.
Gary, one of the founders behind Felix talked me through a striking desk lamp, “this used to be a runway lamp sunk into the tarmac in Berlin. We find interesting lights, refresh, renew and re-interpret them.”
We wandered across to a glade of studio lamps whose sole raison d'être was to inject élan into any environment. Colossal items of lighting architecture with industrial beauty hung through double heighted space asserting contemporary grandeur without posing. Vintage pieces, salvaged store lighting added drama to the story whilst a set of clinically polished steel shades confirmed their role in any minimalist mecca.
The showroom is a stage set of imaginative and iconic lighting with flare, check out Felix.
We’ll put it in lights..
